Jen
Williams
Hi - I'm Jen Williams of Saddle Up Horse Training. At Saddle Up, I teach several disciplines
of horseback riding, including English Pleasure, Dressage, Western Pleasure, and Reining. I
also break young horses to ride, train horses in English and Western Pleasure, Dressage, and
Reining. I also have fun chasing cows and cutting (or really any type of riding) when the
chance pops up.
I grew up in a family of
educators, but I have a degree in
Engineering from the University
of Wisconsin Madison. I love
the area, and I always knew that
I would settle here, even when I
was working for several years
with some national level trainers
out on the west coast of Oregon.
I now live in Oregon, WI, with
my husband, Scot, and my two
boys, Calvin and Jack. If you
add the herd of horses and 2
cats, it seems to make for a big
family.
I try to have lots of
hobbies around for
when I'm not riding. I
wouldn't call the kids a
hobby, but they do
take up the majority of
my non-horse time.
When I do have some
free time, I enjoy
tennis, biking, skiing,
gardening, quilting,
camping, knitting and
much more - I like to
keep busy. I also
march for the
UW-Madison Alumni
band in the trombone
ranks every year.
I have ridden horses
over much of the US.
I rode in the
Applacians, the
Rockies, the
Cascades, and the
Coastal Mountain
range (West coast of
Oregon). I rode a
horse (Rory) in the surf
of the Pacific Ocean,
but I have yet to take a
ride along the East
Coast. I also haven't
ridden in Texas or the
South West, but there
are still many places I
want to ride. Then
there is Canada and
Europe and Australia...
the list is very long.
Scot's fun fact about my wife: she tends to get
her picture in a local paper or on TV more often
than any non-famous person that I know... I can
think of several times that I have seen her on
TV and we have several newspaper clippings
at home.
